Dante’s Journey – a Journey I Hope I Don’t Have to Take

I have to confess I did not read Dante’s Inferno. It wasn’t required reading for me back in my high school years, thus I didn’t read it. But after reading Dante’s Journey, I will definitely read the original story.

I enjoyed this book very much. It’s non-stop action. Joe Dante is an interesting character, and I enjoyed seeing the changes that came over him while never losing his tough guy-ness. Sometimes he seemed like a bratty, stubborn teenager and other times he was very tender. The description of hell was interesting, especially that of the demons. I happen to believe in a literal hell and sure hope Dante’s journey is one I don’t have to make. The moral conclusions drawn in the book were good and shouldn’t be offensive to anyone.

This is a good book, a good thriller with plenty of comic relief thrown in. I’m glad I read it.
